Abi Clarke
In the old
days (i.e. early 2020, comedians might have imagined spending years gigging up
and down the UK as stand-ups, before getting invited to appear on a television
panel show, and later selling the arena tour. However, it's not so simple at
present. Comedy is one form of art that can continue to perform in front of a
live audience. However, we'll not have arena shows anytime soon. However, one
comedian from Bristol has been able to reach a huge global audience via the
social media lockdown. Abi Clarke never set her sights on becoming an internet
popular. The 24-year old, living in Hen bury, with her parents, began making
videos online "to gain a following of like-minded individuals who would
like my stand-up comedy. "I was performing regularly in Devon to men who
were in their 50s and were not so enthusiastic about my Love Island Sims and
Twilight references, so I decided to search online for others who were young
and would love my stand-up routine." Abi, who lives in Hen bury with her
parents has continued to post her videos on Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok.
Her inspiration comes from a variety of sources, including conversations with
strangers, the chatroom, and writing down everything she thinks on her
smartphone.
